Azam Qureshi, MD
Azam Qureshi is a board-certified ophthalmologist and has also completed fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus surgery. He was born and raised in Alabama and attended medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Georgia and his fellowship at Jules Stein Eye Institute UCLA. Over the last five years, he worked tirelessly to develop the pediatric ophthalmology program at the Children's Hospital of Oakland, where he served as both medical director and division chief. He was instrumental in the growth and transformation of the program to what it is today, serving the East Bay's pediatric ophthalmology needs.
He was recently named the Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus Surgery at CPMC, where he actively engages in research and resident education. He has a research grant to study the effects of intraocular lenses on accommodation. He has also been involved in several startups around operating room optimization and, more recently, in a telehealth application for managing amblyopia.
In his spare time, Dr. Qureshi enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and three children. He is also an avid tennis player and continues to participate in tennis tournaments in northern California.
